July Food Adventures

The monthly food series continues.

July 1st – saying farewell with flowers from I-Creamy Artisan Gelato, Sydney CBD

Tonight we said farewell to a friend who was off on a European adventure to study abroad for a few months. After enjoying a nice meal at Chef’s Gallery, our friend is vegetarian, so we ordered a lot of veggo friendly dishes. Anyway, our friend wanted to try the new ice cream trending all over Instagram. The floral ice cream. Just look at it.
My friend's one - so perfectly made.
Mine's melted - but still looks good. choc mint and coconut.
July 2nd – Friends gathering for a celebration at The Restaurant at the 3 weeds, Rozelle

Today we were celebrating a friend’s birthday at this swanky restaurant. Yes, I said swanky. The ambience was nice and the restaurant was nice and cosy… this was a pro and con about this, but I’ll get to it later. As we were a large group, this meant we ordered from the group menu. This one was a 3 course meal for $65.

Entrée I chose – 3 Weeds smoked short ribs with red cabbage, white beans, fetta, toasted rye.

This was amazing!!! Omg! The ribs just melted. MmmmmmmMmmm!
Main – Black barley & roasted tomato Risotto with fetta mousse, roasted figs, ricotta dumplings

Everyone ordered the Berkshire Pork neck with black garlic, soft leek, jamon sourdough, romesco, which I was also going to order, but decided on the risotto just to be different. And what a great choice, my friends didn’t eat all their pork so I got to have some anyway. Woo!
Dessert – Chocolate Pave with Chambord, salted chocolate shortbread, raspberry

This was just… omg! The perfect way to end the meal.
So after the meal we had cake… we had durian cake… let’s just say. Small place + durian cake = you can probably guess. Just hilarious scenes of the staff trying to get rid of the smell.

July 15th – Celebrating the bestie birthday in style, Greek style at Alpha, Sydney CBD

When celebrating our birthdays we always have Japanese or Korean, but mainly Japanese. So my friend decided to book a Greek place for her birthday. Having been there before with her friends, she was keen for us to try it. I’ve always loved Greek food, it’s just so yummy and the lamb. OMG! The way they cook their lamb. Simply delicious!!

Anyway, you’re not here to read me talk about why I love Greek food. You’re here to see what I ordered. So here it is.

For appetisers we ordered;

2 x pita bread with Roast Walnut, Beetroot, Goats Fetta Dip and Taramosalata, White Cod’s Roe Dip
Look at how red the roe dip was and it tasted as amazing as it looked. Always one of my fave dips to order.
For mains I ordered;

Slow Roasted Lamb Spare Ribs with Sweet potato Skordalia and herb salad with a side of Greek Fries.

MmmmMmmmm.
The meat fell right off the bone. It was amazing!!!!

July 15th – I cannot play Pokemon Go and not eat a Pokeball – Doughtnut Time, QVB

So I’ve been getting into the Pokemon craze... Yes that's right people. I play PokemonGo! What's not to love?! Like… you are a pokemon trainer catching all these Pokemon! Gotta catch 'em all! So to celebrate the current trend of Pokemon, Doughttime have created a limited edition I Pika Choose You doughnut.
 It’s in the shape of a Pokeball!!! And you won’t believe what it’s filled with.

It’s a Nutellamon!!!

MmmmMmm… now for me, I couldn’t have this in one sitting, that’s just too much sweetness for me. But I’ve been enjoying bits of it here and there.

July 17th – It’s a perfect day for a Picnic at The Picnic at Burwood Park, Burwood

So my friend has been craving the shoestring fries from The Picnic and this resulted in us coming here. Last month I came here and tried their French toast, so this time I decided to try something else. I really wanted to try their lunch menu, however, we got here at 11am, so lunch wasn’t an option. L But that does mean that we’ll have to come back. One day I will eat you home-made chicken schnitzel.

Anyway today I tried their Breakfast Burger
It didn’t disappoint. There was egg, bacon, American cheese. Yum!!

And of course we had to have the shoe string fries.
July 24th - Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake, Regent Place, Sydney CBD

Uncle Tetsu's famous fluffy japanese cheesecake has opened in Sydney during the past week and man has Sydney fallen in love with this! Each night I walk past the shop and see a massive line, hearing that the wait is 50min, 1 hr, 90min... man that's just too long. Then come Sunday, after strolling around The Rocks and enjoying the Aroma cafe, my friends and I made our way down to Regent Place. We were told that the wait would be 1 hr. With time to spare we decided to line up. But the line moved really fast, in fact, we just waited 30mins.
 Check out the cake! It's so fluffy and delicious!!!
And that rounds off the food adventure for the month of July. Boy, what a month! Wonder what August will hold.

Until next time!
