Day 5 - The longest drive of them all

We're on the road again!

Starting Point: Lake Tekapo
Destination: Te Anau
Distance: 416km
Time: 4 hours 52 minutes

Now that's a long drive. Almost 5 hours!

With bestie being the primary driver and enjoying driving, she took the wheel first. Then she just powdered on for the entire leg. What a trooper! Hey I tried to keep her entertained with chats and singing, she didn't pay much attention to my singing. Lets say she completely ignored me. I guess I'm not the next Voice of Australia. *sigh* ... anywho!
Our first stop, was Wanaka. A beautiful little town situated between Tekapo and Queenstown.
This is a popular tourist stop for all road trippers. With a beautiful lake, plenty of cute boutique shops and restaurants to feed on. They even have a puzzle world!

Check out their website. Definitely worth a few days stop if you have the time in your itinerary.

View of Lake Wanaka.
Oh such an Insta photo 😏
Just so picturesque
After admiring the gorgeous view, we decided that it was time for lunch. Well, it was approaching noon and we'd hadn't eaten anything since we left Tekapo village. Bestie decided to do some Googling and found several options for us to choose from. We analysed our options and came up with the best identifier. Which restaurant has the longest lines. Bahahahaha! Hey success rate for this is quite high. I mean its logic right. More people must mean good food, since they are happy to wait.

Today's winner was Kia Whaka Pai.
They offer both cabinet and menu food, and both options do not disappoint.

Bestie ordered a pie from the cabinet while I ordered their fish of the day.

Just look at that - lunch with a view.

After we were well fed, we were off again.

As you drive past Queenstown to Te Anau, you are treated to gorgeous, gorgeous views of Lake Wakatipu.
Again, like all lakes in New Zealand, there are several stops along the way to pull over and take in the views. We decided to drive to the bottom of the lake and stop in Kingston.
Yup another Insta photo 😏
Then after, this little pit stop. We have arrived at the beautiful Lake Te Anau!!!! 😄

Accommodation: Bella Vista Model
Location: 5 to 10min walk from town centre and Lake Te Anau

View before sunset.
Sun is setting - look at the beautiful colours
Here comes the blue and purple. Again, trying that Insta shot 😉
