April Food Adventures
Hallloooooo peoplez!!!
How is
everyone? Fantabulous I presume!
So I’m not
much of a food blogger, I mean I like food, but i've never thought about blogging about it.. However, my best friend has a food
blog and it’s great! You all should check it out (ilovemyfoodlots). Doot doot, ok back? Sweet!
So what I
thought I’d do for this blog is just list the places I’ve eaten at during the
month. Call it my monthly food adventures. With quite a lot of spare time up my sleeve I’ve been able to
catch up with a lot of friends. This also means trying a few new places, which
equates to eating a lot of yummy, yummy food! So here's the April edition of 'Where I ate'.
April 5 – A visit to the bald chocolate man à Max Brenner, Central Plaza
Date with my cousin and her little bub. We decided to head to Max Brenner. Can I just say that the waffles
at Max Brenner never disappoint and this one wasn’t any different. Look at that
big blob of ice cream! The waffle wasn’t too chewy and didn’t feel like
it was brought from Woolies (Woolworths). It felt fresh and was still warm.
When you combine it with ice cream and top that off with a strawberry. Oh my
lord!!! It was like heaven!
April 6 – Feeling like a schnitty à Motown Coffee
Brewers – Sydney CBD, near Suncorp building
This place
was recommended to me by my chocolate creating friend (Hey.there.sugar) as she
said the burgers are really good. But, instead of having a burger I ordered the
“Schnitty” – Parmsen crumbed chicken schnitzel with salad and sweet potato
fries on the side. Why? I saw sweet potato fries and I had to have them. I couldn’t help it. Just look at them! Nom nom nom. They were delicious!!!! I also
enjoyed an ice coffee, because it was just a tad hot that day as well. My
friend had the “From the Pasture” – Angus rib eye filler with a side battered
onion rings and fries, however, she requested sweet potato fries which they
didn’t swap for… so… yeah… But it was ok, I told her she could have some of mine.
Now I’ll
need to return to this place, why? Well I didn’t have the burger, so I’ll need
to come back for that… and the sweet potato fries. J
April 17 – Enjoying some food at our nation’s
capital à G Tree Café, Canberra, ACT
On this
particular day a friend and I decided to road trip town to our nation’s capital
to visit my rock loving, marvel hugging friend and her husband for a Sunday
funday birthday visit. We were brought here by the couple as they said the
coffee was amazing. I must say it was pretty darn good.
The café uses Ona coffee beans. Very smooth. Smooth like a smooth criminal… Anyway, what did I have here? Well I had the morning apple crumble – baked apple and mixed berries in quinoa & coconut crumb topped with honey cinnamon. To be honest, in my head I thought it was like an apple pie. I don’t know why?! But it was still yummy none the less.

Today I
paid a visit to Rhodes to meet up with a friend during her lunch break. We
decided to try the new café, Left of Field. The menu was definitely interesting
and we spent a bit of time trying to figure out what to have. In the end, we
decided to be healthy. My friend settled for the fried duck egg, asparagus,
garlic, wild mushrooms, pecorino & truffle while I had the grilled figs
with prosciutto, candied walnuts, Meredith goats cheese & nasturtium. The
description makes the food sound so fancy, doesn’t it. It was delicioso! I
definitely want to come back and try the other items on the extensive
menu.
April 23 – The one with the pop up cereal cafe
– Kellogg’s cereal café at Kawa, Surrey Hills
Today was a
Saturday and my friend told me to meet her at Central station at 9:30am. Now
can I be honest with you, this was extremely early for me because it meant
waking up at 7:30am on a Saturday. I can imagine some of you saying, oh that’s
not early, it’s just 7:30. But to me it is. Why? well, I love my sleep. Especially
on weekends where I can sleep in. So this was a bit of a struggle!
Anyway, I made it to Central and off we went to try this pop up cereal café. Once there, we were greeted by a cute little café called Kawa. It’s an interesting concept combining cereal with brunch, or shall we say crunch. Haha… ok maybe not.
ANYWAY. What did we have I hear you asking, well, we enjoyed some coco puffs hot chocolate, some rice bubble crusted french toast with banana, maple syrup and crispy bacon (bacon was on the side as my friend is a vegetarian) and we also shared a salad made up of kale, avocado, special K, green apple topped with a poached egg. Also we finished our crunch date Kawa’s Moroccan mint tea.
April 24 – Visiting the Shire – Gerrale St Kitchen,

To round up
April’s food adventures my friends and I decided to try Gerrale St Kitchen down
south. The menu is quite extensive, which made choosing something very hard.
Now my friends weren’t that hungry so we didn’t really choose heavy dishes, we
tried to go for something a little more light.
The dishes order for this visit were – warm Belgian waffles; served with whipped cinnamon ricotta, yuzu curd and raspberries x 2 and the French Canadian stack which was brioche French toast, smoked bacon, banana, maple, pecan crumble and mascarpone. To match these savory, sweet dishes we enjoyed some freshly made juices as well.

So that was
April’s food adventures – now I’m feeling quite full and I think I’m in a food
coma, so I’m going to crawl to bed and try to sleep this off. Let me know if
there is anywhere which I should try for the month of May? If not, I hope you
enjoyed this little food adventure.
Until next time!!
