Day 1: Landing in Christchurch

I finally made it to New Zealand (NZ)! This country has been on my wanderlust list for years! However, the fact that it was only 3 hours by flight always deterred me from going. I felt like it made more sense to travel to places further away because NZ would always be there.

Then one day, while chatting to the bestie, we just decided to go, cause you know YOLO! Like why not? Come March 18th, we were off to the country that was even more south than Australia!

Flight 8am via Air NZ.

3 hours and 2 hour time adjustment later we are finally in Christchurch.
So how does one decide to travel around NZ? Why by road tripping of course!

There are many rental companies to choose from in NZ such as Hertz, Apex and much, much more. We decided to go with Jucy, a NZ based rental car company that started in 2001, which was recommend to us by my Kiwi friend.

After picking up our car, we made our way to the Town Centre to Southwark Apartments, our accommodation for night. The bestie selected this place and I really liked it. It's a fairly new property and located in Christchurhc Central. And most importantly they had Netflix! =D

After settling down we decided to hunt for some snacks before dinner. Located just outside of the apartment was a cafe. The Unknown Chapter. What an awesome name!
As it was about 4pm, the kitchen was closed so we decided to order things available from the counter.
I actually don't remember what my sandwich was called, but if you head over to ilovemyfoodlots blog she'll be able to explain what we ate in more detail. The bestie ordered a sausage roll, look at the size of that thing!

After our little afternoon snack, we decided to explore the city centre. From our apartment we were 10 - 15min walk from Cathedral Square. During this stroll we were captivated by the numerous street art located all over streets of Christchurch.

After exploring the town centre, we made our way to Mexico for dinner.
OMG! The food here was amazing!! I loved it. We ordered some corn chips and guac, fish tacos, fried chicken. MmmmmMmmm. Just simply delicious. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Christchurch, the atmosphere is fun, the staff are friendly and the food, just oh-so-good!
