That Autumn Feel

To me autumn means sweater weather! I love wearing sweaters! They're big, they're cosy - what's not to love.

To me the colours; red, brown, orange, yellow - are autumn.

Falling leaves, shorter days, cooler nights. Autumn is here.

Living in the South West of Sydney, makes it a bit hard to get that autumn feeling. I mean, don't get me wrong we have trees. But not deciduous trees. Sometimes it's hard to get that autumn feeling.

So what do you do? Well, head further out west, that's what you do.

Last Saturday the besties and I decided to take a little road trip to Mount Wilson. Where's Mount Wilson you may be asking, well, if you know where the Blue Mountains are, Mount Wilson is also there, just on the other side of it. Mount Wilson is a beautiful little village where the estates are large and the gardens are gorgeous!

Upon driving up there, you immediately get that autumn feel.

Do you see all those autumn colours? Simply gorgeous!

One of the gardens we decided to visit was Windyridge Garden. Why? One of the gardeners put a pamphlet on my car, we figured why not.

Located at 25 Queens Ave, Mount Wilson, you can either drive here or take a nice stroll down Queens Ave

The drive way is beautiful, upon reaching the top you will be greeted by the owners. Admissions is $10 for adults and $3 for children. They also offer complimentary coffee and tea.

This garden is beautiful. One of the fellow visitors told us that the estate used to belong to a Swedish couple who planted the large trees. After their passing a florist purchased the land and decided to add some floral touches to the garden.

At the bottom of the garden is a little water feature which I loved! This is definitely a nice little spot for a picnic.

Another garden we decided to check out was Nooroo Gardens. Located at 11-15 Church Ln, Mount Wilson, we decided to check out this garden because we liked the name. 😀

Upon entering we were greeted by the owner who gave us a little history into the place. He explained that the estate was established in 1880. The garden itself contains a variety of trees from  maples. original oaks, chestnuts, ash and beech. Some of these are over 100 years old! The owner explained that in mid-autumn visitors come to pick the chestnuts. Now that would have been fun!

If you want autumn, I definitely recommend visiting this garden. The variety of deciduous trees will give you that autumn feel.

Walking through you also find some of Sakura, unfortunately this is not their season, however, we managed to spot some.

Mount Wilson is a beautiful little village, definitely worth a visit. In Spring, they have a Spring festival where you can go and admire all the flora in full bloom, especially the Sakura.
